In the event of a dispersal draft, we need to decide how many teams should receive compensation. We will decide the drafting order with a future poll. It seems to be consensus that KOJI/Reverse cowgills definitely deserve more compensation than other teams, so each poll result reflects that.
Option 1: KOJI Beef and Reverse Cowgills only (2 or 3 each) (4 or 6 total assets removed from douchegators)
Option 2: Koji/RC (2 each) + 5 other teams (1 each) based past results (either entire league history, or past 2 years, or some other criteria TBD later) (9 total assets remove from douchegators, 10 if Trout is removed as well)
Option 3: Every team gets a single asset, Koji/RC get 2 each (13 total assets, 14 if Mike trout is removed). Draft order would be determined in a future poll.
Option 4: Another option, please state your option in the thread
JP with all due respect there's a reason this is going to a league vote. The bottom guys get just as much say In any matter as the top guys. There are going to be pros and cons for each player that will sway the vote regardless of the issue, it doesn't make their votes any less important
Also, while I appreciate that you have someone in mind for the vacant spot, that is also something that will need to be decided on by not just one person.
We already have a majority decision to do an immediate dispersal. I'm sorry that you don't agree, but that is going to be what happens. Now we just have to iron out the details
Not trying to cause a mess, but does anyone else think that this poll above is a little misleading.
#1) majority of the league does not want every team to get a Douche player, but the poll will make us do exactly that
#2) You have 10 votes cast, 4 voted for "Every team gets 1. Koji/RC get 2", but 3 voted for "Koji/RC Only", with 1 "other". Maybe if JP had realized his other was never going to happen, he would have voted for whatever the next best thing is.
Anyway, it may be too late, but I thought I would mention it.
We will be taking 13 assets + Mike Trout away from the Dgators. That does seem like an awful lot, but I don't know what else to do. That option received the highest number of votes, but you make a good point about the majority of the league spreading their votes between the other options.

I have no idea, I'm not sure there is a better solution.
I did have one thought though. I'm just brainstorming here, but what if we did something like this with the current dispersal. No Mike Trout per the poll still.
1. Koji and Cowgills get 2 picks (contracts remain intact) 2. Beavers get 1 pick (contract remains intact) 3. Everyone else gets 1 pick (either farm or if they choose someone off the roster, that player becomes a FA at the end of the season)
I think something like this ensures a few things.
A. We knock Danny's team down to a mediocre level. Even with 13 assets + Trout taken, there will still be some good players on that roster/farm.
B. Koji and Cowgills get the help they need to speed up rebuild.
C. Beavers get some help, but not as much as Koji/RC.
D. Everyone else gets to add something to improve their team. Keeps it fair for everyone, but also partially addresses the concerns about the contracts, etc.
I feel like this creates a more level playing field, without punishing anyone or giving anyone an unfair advantage. Thoughts?

My team is in its state for the plain fact I tried to repeat as Champ last year and due to injuries and a few players having career worst seasons got unlucky. I still sit with plenty of draft picks and I still have an OK core of players like Altuve, Jackson, etc. I as setting myself up for a 2 yr rebuild and then start looking towards 2016 when some big contracts come off the books. I do strongly believe every single team should get a piece of the pie but I don't think my team should get anything different than the teams in choice D.
1. Koji and Cowgill get 2 picks (contracts remain intact)
2. Everyone else gets 1 pick (farm or if they take a player off the roster, that player will become a FA after this season)
3. Mike Trout is a FA and ineligible.
Alternatively, if people think 2 picks + being able to keep the contracts is too much for Koji and myself, we could make a stipulation that we can choose only one roster player (and keep his contract) and other pick must be a farm player.
Obviously we can tweak this, and we would still have to determine other details such as the order and player swaps.

That idea is okay with me. I'd lean more towards the one roster player (keep contract) and a farm or one roster keep and one roster FA but I could be okay with the idea any way.

The more I think about it, the more I like Josh's idea.
It will result in more farm players being taken most likely, but should also result in the new owner taking over a more immediately decent/good team, depending on how the dispersal draft goes. Also, it would send a decent amount of the Douches players to the auction next year, but not such a crazy amount that it would upset the balance of the league, and give too huge an advantage to people with extra cap next year. It will result in a particularly bountiful FA draft, but not outrageously so.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on Josh's idea? Pros/Cons/ideas?

this is pretty good
that option in bold balances it out well
with that option and all the cap they will have next year to bid on , those guys will be very competive next year
but im good with what u guys decide

What I mean is, I get someone off of Douche's roster, but how are we going to figure out who to give back.
Sorry, but it all seems a little more complicated than it needs to be, just to weaken Douche+strengthen the rest of the non-newb owners. Im ok with Kohi+RC getting a couple of players, I dont get why we get to take a player.
Personally, I think if you are going to make all of the Douche pickups FA's at the end of the year anyway, why even bother giving us these players? I dont like the effect it could have on this year personally, but I will live with it, just voicing my opinion since you asked.
Basically, the trade would work like this: You take an asset from the douches, and you must give back an asset from your team. There will be a list of ineligible assets that Matt and I are working on that you won't be allowed to give to the douches. Basically long term contracts of inactive/****ty players.
The idea is that since we are stripping assets from the Gators, we need to be giving droppable/non negative assets back, so that the new owner has something to work with this year. It also seems like the most logical way to decide which assets from the Douches we are removing, rather than just randomly picking a few. We've already decided that a complete dismantling of the roster is more trouble than it is worth. It also makes more sense to me that these players are on somebody's roster this year, and not just a bunch of free agents that nobody can touch.
I also don't want to just dump a huge amount of extra free agents into next years auction, since that gives a big advantage to teams which happen to have a lot of free cap for next year.

Isn't the effect the same whether I take a player off Douche or we just release them at end of year? Either way, it seems like these players will become FA's.
What am I missing?

yes, but we will also have the option of taking a farm player instead, which would be a more attractive option for a lot of teams, and should reduce the number of players we are dumping into the auction. 6 or 7 is manageable. 12 or 13 is more problematic.

Just want to clarify - if someone takes a player who is signed for future years (or an RFA) off the Douche roster...does that player automatically go back into auction? Or does the taker get that player's future years as well, and/or have the option to re-sign?
Arp seems to be implying that any player taken gets dumped back into the auction automatically, but I didn't think that was the case?
Seems the plan has changes to Koji/cubs puck up player plus contract and everyone else chooses a farm player or roster player but player gets put in FA at end of season.
My plan was just an idea that would still follow all the majority votes of the poll. Just to clarify for everyone, including Danny.
1. We are doing an immediate dispersal 2. Koji/Cowgills get 2 picks, everyone else gets 1 3. Mike Trout will become a FA after this season, no team gets to own him in the mean time.
My idea is the following.
1. Koji/Cowgills get 2 picks
1st option - Koji/RC get 2 picks, and get to keep the players for the life of the contract.
2nd option - Koji/RC get 2 picks, but can only keep the contract of one roster player. The other pick must be a farm player.
2. Everyone else gets 1 pick
That pick can be either a roster or a farm player.
If they choose a roster player, that player will become a FA after this season.
I think most people seem to be leaning towards the 2nd option of #1. As far as #2 goes, I think it will definitely make farm players more attractive, which should lessen the amount of FA's put back into next year's auction.

Essentially, we are handing out rental players for anyone who wants to compete for a championship this year or farm players for those who are thinking more long term. Hopefully it creates a balance that will knock Dgators down to a mediocre level, without polluting next year's FA auction with a ton of huge names.

Sorry, I didn't read this carefully enough the first time. Interesting compromise. Sorry to have put everyone in this situation with my last-minute notice and problematically amazing team!
p.s. if anyone wants to chat about players and/or prospects, feel free to PM me or email me at dan_at_guelph (at) hotmail. Since your questions won't be time-oriented and I won't have a direct interest, chatting won't break any of my rules for myself, and I'm always happy to talk baseball/fantasy!
Well, I think we have enough support for Josh's idea to go ahead with it for the dispersal draft. We can start the draft as soon as we have enough votes on the most recent poll to get a consensus on how to set the order.
